Feedback

Once the other groups and ourselves had got to a suitable stage in our video we decided to show everyone our rough cut to gain valuable feedback. This was a helpful way to see what others thought and where our weaknesses were and what we could do to change it.

We found that nearly everyone thought that we had a good narrative and the scenes with the slow paced music worked well. Although as constructive criticism everyone said how we should use short, fast cuts for the fast paced music to make it work.

Taking all comments into account we will go on to editing our video to make it perfect.

Rough cut music video

We decided to show our rough cut to the rest of the class as the target audience to get their feedback and see what we could improve. Apart from the 30 second gap which we are filling with our artist singing we have nearly finished. But, as a rough cut we know we will have lots of useful feedback and more to edit within our video.

CD draft

As a draft I started to create our cd as at first we were not going to use images and we thought that this would help us to distinguish our colour scheme. We decided to base our colours around black, white, reds and greys. We used the red handprint as a sign of love, lust, guilt and loss and it also relates to our music video as we use paint to create this red handprint effect. Other than this one image we kept it simple with the song title in large font and the artists in smaller font. On our cd we used the font 'clubland' which we will also use on our cd case and magazine advert.

Mercury Records

Mercury Records is a record label operating as a standalone company in the UK and as part of the The Island Def Jam Music Group in the US; both are subsidiaries of Universal Music Group. There is also a Mercury Records in Australia, which is a local artist and repertoire division of Universal Music Australia. In the United States, Universal Music Group Nashville administers the Mercury Records Nashville label.

Mercury Record Corporation was founded in the American city of Chicago in 1945 by Irving Green, Berle Adams and Arthur Talmadge. They were a major force in jazz and blues, classical music, rock and roll, and country music recordings. Early in the label's history, Mercury opened two pressing plants, one in Chicago and the other in St. Louis, Missouri. With the use of automatic presses and providing 24-hour turnaround, they went into direct competition with major recording labels such as Columbia, Decca, and RCA Victor.

By hiring two promoters, Tiny Hill and Jimmy Hilliard, they penetrated the pop market with names such as Frankie Laine, Vic Damone, Tony Fontane and Patti Page.

Rather than rely on radio airplay, Mercury initially relied to jukeboxes to promote their music.

Corrections

After putting our filming together the first time we realised that it works well with the song and after cutting and editing the filming is the same length as the song. This was a great relief to all our hard work although we have corrections to make on lighting the filming; areas are too dark making it hard to see.

All these pictures need to be better lit by false lighting and we need to take out the natural lighting as it is too dark and corrupts the camera lens leaving glares.

These are scenes we need to correct;
